Hey, I"m looking to buy a used 15" mower. Does anyone have any opinions of the Rhino SR15? Is is listed as "15" width, 540 pto, pull type, frt and rear chains, 180hp splitter box, 140hp center, 2.5" cut". It looks like it in decent shape.

Comments or suggestions?

They are a good mower, just real heavy. They have a tendency to windrow in heavy grass. It will take a 80-100 hp tractor to pull it especially if you have hilly ground.

Stay away from rhino mowers. Worked at a dealer for a few years and they were built to light and the gearboxes were forever going out on them. they do a poor job cutting to. Go with a landpride or woods.

I had one, biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. Bought it brand new too. The year the gear box warranty was up the center one went out. At least every other year one of the gear boxes needed a thousand bucks or more. Finally, after 10 years of it I traded it in on a 2615L Bush Hog. Dealer gave me 3500 trade in on my old one. This one might be it.....

I bought one new about 5 yrs ago. I do not mow every day with it probably mow 200 acers a year. check oil in gear box keep breathers clean. I am happy with it.

The 540 will be trouble. Maybe you don't have 1000 rpm pto on your tractor, so expect driveline and gearbox problems. There's a reason the industry went to the higher speed...

Uh, that's not the reason...
