Best Bulk Carb Cleaner

I need to purchase a new bucket of carb cleaner. I"m wondering what the best is that"s available on todays market.
I mostly use it to clean carbs, and small aluminum motor blocks and parts.
I"ve looked at Berryman"s and I"ve notice CRC makes some. I need a 5 gallon bucket size.
Thanks,
Jeff

I've had good luck with Berryman's 5 gallon can. Wear gloves while using it or your hands will stink for quite a few washings after.

When it comes to aerosol cans, I buy the 3M brand carb cleaner and brake cleaners when they are on sale at NAPA. They work good and they're cheap.

Nothing compares to the old Gunk carb cleaner but we both know that it has not been available for decades.

I cannot help you with the currently available stuff as I have not bought any since they took Gunk off of the market.

I'll pay attention to the thread to learn what is currently available.

The Berryman's is so weak that a brand new can of it will just barely wrinkle the paint on a carburetor, and soaking that carburetor for a full week still won't get dryed on grease and other crud to come loose. In other words, it is worthless.

I am currently using a big pot setting on a hot plate. fill the pot about 2/3 full of water, add a cup or two of liquid laundry detergent, and then boil the carb in that solution for about one hour. A wire brush will easily remove the dryed on grease and oil after that. A can of aerosol brake and carb cleaner will clean out the tiny passages.

Hard to find any thing that is very good any more. I have a can of the old Berry's mans but it is 10 plus years old and I just keep filtering it and crossing my fingers that it will stay good enough to use. Some how the EPA has messed up every thing now days when it comes to a good carb cleaner

If you can find LYE like plumbers used and house wives used for making soap, put 6 to 8 oz in a 5 gallon bucket and fill with water, most parts will be clean in 4 to 6 hrs. Caution DO NOT GET ON SKIN.

Find a ZEP dealer.Seems like all other brands weakened or changed their strength and/or recipe except these guys.

Sorry fellas, but someone did not understand the original post. The gentleman said he uses it to clean carburetors, (aluminum) and small aluminum parts. Lye mixture is highly corrosive to aluminum and would ruin it.

I used Gunk all the time. Great stuff. With the stuff they have today. Your better off with boiling water. I do like the brake cleaner and carb spray. But even some of that is getting pretty weak.
