Best way rust removal

I have a sandblaster, but such a pain to use, compressor too small for big jobs.
What about POR 15, Rust Bullit, or Eastwood rust encapselator ? Muratic acid ?

I have used the Eastwood rust Encapselator. I did not like the results. Phosphoric acid will convert the lighter rust to a black oxide finish that you can then paint over. For heavy rust, a physical effort should be made to remove rust, before applying any rust convertor. Google it to double check my reply. POR 15 is a product some people believe in very strongly also.

Sand blasting unfortunately is the best thing to do. You might consider getting bigger compressor, and bigger air tanks for additional volume. It just is what it is. Another point of advice is to atleast spray primer as soon as possible after sand blasting. Humidity alone in the air will start the rusting process again right away on the bare metal.

I agree with both the other guys. From my many years here on YT I have seen that the rust weapon of choice after sand blasting is the cup type twisted wire wheel. For cast iron and structural steel the flap wheel is even better and faster. As the others have said you want to follow up the rust removal with any of the phosphoric acid rust converters, so that rust is not hiding down in pits and gouges and deep scratches.

Finding someone local with a big sandblaster that does it as a business is usually pretty fast and cost effective.

Blasting cabinet for small stuff, and a bigger/second compressor - you can tee them together without an issue for spot use like that. Most of the "converters" don't really remove anything, they just stop it, so not that great if there's a buildup. A needle scaler is a good tool, too, for castings - cleans it up enough for a POR-15 type product to work well -
