Black bears

At work, we are having 2 younger black bears come visit the property. At first checking things out, now last 2 days are getting in the dumpster and spreading garbage all over.

Not much animal control or game wardens can do. Read try bleach, cayenne pepper, and so on.

Anyone have any good tricks or batt powered motion sensor eq to use?

Place is an apartment complex with seniors only.

Thanks

Add a hasp and carabiner to the lid. Remove it when the garbage truck comes so it will not distress the driver. But allow human
access. When the lid won't open they will stop the visiting. Jim

Tie downs on the top lids should work. Has sliding side doors, might need to rig up ties there too.

Wouldn't be able to fence it, residents need access.

Saw a batt powered sensor that barks when triggered. Changes every time it is tripped.

Contact the dumpster supplier.

We had trouble with unauthorized dumping, dumpster divers trashing the property.

The dumpster service provided a dumpster with a locking bar that could be unlocked with a pad lock, but when the truck picks it up to dump it gravity unlocks.

Would not need the lock unless the bears figured out how to lift the lever to unlock it.

Had two different customers who have lived in Alaska. Both said they are more scared of a black bear, than a brown bear. Both said if you see a brown bear in your yard, it's passing through. If you see a black bear more than once, it's there to eat you....

Took wife and daughter fishing yesterday, fairly remote lake we were the only ones on the water all day.

Come time to leave as we were approaching the boat ramp there was a black bear standing smack in the middle the ramp watching us.

Decided it would be wise to cruise the lake for another half hour.

I was half expecting to find the bear on top of the deck of my truck when we got back as I had been hauling salt blocks out to the cows the day before, fortunately it was long gone by the time we returned.

My wife was tld by an old timer that a can of "RAID!" coated in peanut butter would get rid of them. One good crunch of "RAID!" might
persuade hem to leave.
