Blast the rust?

I bought a Farmall Super C this last weekend. The hood, grill, and exposed fuel tank are brown with rust, insted of red. If I buy a sand blaster from Harbor Freight, will it blast the rust off, down to bare metal, so I can paint? Would that medium grade Armex Soda media work good for this? I never sand blasted before.

Sandblasters are great tools, but air hogs. Unless you have areas less than the size of your hand to do, take the minimum CFM rating times about 5 for one of those suction units. 20 CFM @ 100psi would be great for hood, gas tank etc; larger and you're after bigger yet to not be running continuous. If you don't know your CFM, say about 5 [b:e4a1831e91]running [/b:e4a1831e91]HP, which is going to be more like 10 rated HP on many compressors.

A pressure blaster should give you more rust removal per CFM, but still takes a pretty sizable compressor as you have to pressurize the tank, and it takes just a bit wasted air to get the sand air mix right too if spot blasting.
