Is there a set pattern of blind head bolt holes in a 1952 8n block that could cause a hydraulic burst if thread sealer is applied to the bolt threads ?
Thanks Loren

h, you have seen such postings, but just remember that many things that are 'known to be true' are not.(quoted from post at 21:58:24 10/17/11) Thanks.....I thought that I had seen a posting that indicated there was a possibility of this.I now have the stuck valve problem fixed and I am ready to install a new head gasket and quit bothering you guys with dumb questions. Many thanks to all the Tractor Forum is absolutely a must for anyone with an old machine and a bunch of guys who knows how to make them tick. low day for 'real' tractor problems, so I spent (wasted) a little time searching archives. Found various posters statements on number of blind holes in head mating surface of N-tractor blocks. I no doubt didn't get all of them, but a sprinkling is that the number is: 0, 1, 2, 7. Now, I surmise that people don't really know or that all N-blocks are not equal in the blind hole count. Interesting.(quoted from post at 10:10:35 10/18/11) Sure can break the block with a hydraulic force of a head bolt. Junk in the hole and also way too much oil on threads and in the hole. Never oil up the block threads just light oiling on the bolt/stud will do. Hobo is correct, trash must be agressively dug out of the blind hole, not a job for a Q-tip!
es, looks like the fellow who said 7 did include those 4 (may go into water, not blind, but long bolts still a problem). So, now we are down to 0,1,2,3. The fellow who said they all go into water, did specifically say 1939 block.(quoted from post at 12:22:43 10/18/11)
The manifold studs (4) go in the block directly under 4 head bolts,,, they are not blind but crud could cause a obstruction... Are if to long of a bolt used could cause a mess...
