Block heater

I have a international 2444 diesel engine tractor that I want to put a block heater on. I have looked I thought the best I could an can not find ANY freeze plugs on either left side or the right side of the engine. Where can they be hiding at. Any an all help would be greatly appreciated

Lucky you didn’t find any because those engine did not have any. You will need to use a tank type heater that connects with lengths of heater hose. They usually draw cold coolant out of the block drain and return it through a fitting in the cylinder head. There are also some that install in the lower radiator hose. These require a roughly 4” long straight section which has to angle up slightly towards the engine.

Thank you I thought I might have been going blind..can you give me any information on it and maybe a picture if you can. So I know what to look for

I've put at least 5 heaters on different tractors I've had in the lower radiator hose I always figured the worst case I would have to replace the lower hose if it didn't work out. I know most on here don't like them but I've never heard where one failed and I've never had a problem with one. They have always worked good for me.

I read some of the reviews for the Kat's magnetic heaters, and it seems the cords break when it gets cold! If they're not reliable at -30F what good are they? I have had a magnetic heater for 25 years, works well but only 200 watts, I use it along with the block heater on our JD 4600, works well.

We have a heater in the lower radiator hose. It works fine to warm the engine, but when it’s 20 below the oil in the pan must be really thick, so we slap the Katz magnetic heater under the oil pan.
