I have a 464 international harvester gas engine.
It's been sitting for a while because of firing problem with points. I finally got it to run and drove it up and down the road but noticed it had a lot of blow by coming from the dipstick and the crank case tube, does anyone know why I'm getting this blow by?
Thanks Mike

Could simply be condensation boiling off. Or that could indicate worn rings letting combustion gasses enter the crancase. Drive it a bit,see if it clears up.Let it get good and warm. Hook a plow to it if
possible. Watch oil level. Wouldn't hurt to run a compression check.

its either worn out or the rings are sticky from sitting . sounds like your tractor so how was it before the sitting would be of interest to
know. or you bought it after it was sitting need details. work it hard and hot for a few hrs, plus monitor the oil level. then see how it
is. blowby is compression going past the rings into the crankcase.
