Blue grease

Hi, I've stripped the front hubs on my 150 here in the UK and found a blue grease in them. This looks to be a slightly stiffer grease than my normal 'universal' grease. Can anyone take a guess at the manufacturer and grade? Just wondering if it might be avaiable in the UK. Thanks

I know some grease for trailer wheel bearings (especially for boat trailers where the wheels get submerged in water) the grease is blue. The boat trailer wheel bearing grease usually use Calcium Sulfonate soaps which are much more water resistant and act as an anti-corrosive compared to almost all other soaps/thickeners, particularly lithium soaps which aren't great in very wet or even just humid environments.

I don't know that color will designate any one type of brand of grease so anything will be just a guess of what the grease might be in your 150 hubs now. I would clean the hubs and bearings out, then re-pack them with a wheel bearing rated grease you can get local to you, then you will know what you have, no guessing. JMHO.

Too many brands of grease to know for sure but I agree clean it out then put in wheel bearing grease in it, then you will know what it has. You don't want a grease with moly!

The color of grease is just a dye. Different colors do not represent any thing about the grease or its application. If you are curious castrol makes a brand of multi purpose grease called "pyroplex blue" We used to use it on greased hubs on transport trailers that had greased hubs.
