bobcat 743 wont start

I just purchased a not running bobcat 743. I posted to get the forums opinion about it a few days ago on a different thread. I decided to get it.

The guy I got it from said that he thought the starter wouldn't turn over fast enough to get it to fire. He uses ether to start it which I know is a no no, but it is what it is.

Where would you start to get it to crank. I don't want to sink alot of money in it until I hear it run. I was considering connecting 24 volts directly to the starter to get it to turn over faster. I figure I am going to need a new one any way so I don't mind damaging this one. What else could it hurt if I wire it so that the starter is the only thing getting 24 volts and everything else is 12 volts? I know some of you will read this and think I am crazy for doing this, I am!!!! Please let me know what you think I should or shouldnt do. I appreciate any advice, help, or opinions.

Thanks!

Do you have a booster cart? Hook it up and charge the battery up and then leave it on Start mode. That should give you all the cranking speed you need.
