I am in the most unfortunate situation where I now need a device that will allow me to prove that my unhinged neighbour is threatening and physically attacking me .
If any member could recommend a decent body cam type of device I would be very grateful . Local police are sympathetic but without proof are unable to act positively.
I'm 70 this year , reasonable with tech but not wanting anything that's too hard to get video from .
It's a terrible thing to have to deal with when all I want is to live a quiet Christian life at home with my family .
Any suggestions most welcome .

If he's on your property it should be legal to record him. Just be careful what you do or say so it can't be taken as provocation.

If on your property and you can not find a body camera. just set up recording trail cameras. some take very good quality video.

Perhaps reading up on GUN laws down under would be enlightening, as shooting would not be advisable there.

Charles ask the police what they use. Maybe ask if they have one to loan.

Don't forget this is Australia and most guns have been confiscated. So much for defending yourself. IMHO

So sorry to hear that. Work with law enforcement and ask for suggestions and legal issues. As stated, maybe they would lend you a device or steer you to a good one. Find out who your Crown Prosecuter is and contact him/her.
A restraining order, also called Intervention Orders or Apprehended Violence Orders (AVOs) in Australia and they set specific conditions to keep the protected person safe.
I hope you get this resolved.

Trouble is with a restraining order it only tells the perp to stay away. They are really useless if the perp decides to ignore it until it is too late. Many people have been killed because of a restraining order in this state. If you call the police it is too late when they arrive. IMHO

I have thought long and hard about this situation , there are very few options available to me .
Our firearms laws are incredibly stringent , using one , even for defence is a guaranteed jail sentence. No open carry rights, no castle or stand your ground provisions either .
Restraining orders applied for against anyone will trigger immediate confiscation of the applicants firearms . Yes it is that severe .

Photographic evidence is really the only course of action I have . Recording of private conversations is illegal , fortunately photographs taken in public places are allowed .
Clearly unbalanced , he is sly , devious and cunning, will only harras and attack when there are no witnesses and acts like a jovial accommodating sort when he knows he is observed by others .
No hope of borrowing anything from. Police , their equipment is restricted to their use only .

There are so many body and sports cams on the market its confusing to choose one . I suppose I really wanted a recommendation of an easy to use one with good quality resolution .

Most sad political situation. Sad also that I ain,t been to Australia for about a dozen years. Liked Pearth- Freemantal area. Good people and chick's still wore skirts. Anyway, I trust any trip to a mall or big box style electronics store will yield what you want, if not what ya need. An armed society is a polite society. Your neighbor sounds rude. Good luck.

I like the idea of a trail camera, IF the confrontations happen in a determinable area. That way the backup statement can be "I set the camera to monitor my chickens" or some such likely explanation, while the confrontation gets recorded. steve

I don't think you need permission to audio record as long as you are not a business.

Look at GoPro body camera. Not a recommendation per se but I think worthy of consideration. Costs more than some but if my life is being threatened I want good video. I have been told reasonable people can watch the same video drawing different conclusions. So get video the minute you see him. Good luck.

I can fully understand your lack of rights and greatly sorry for your plight. Not un-like us, you have elected some weak crybabies for leadership. Hopefully ours don't get as bad as yours. I had trouble with a neighbor a few years back making comments and threats over property lines, I started turning on my iPhone camera and clipping it back on my front pants pocket (where I normally wear it) it often didn’t show a perfect shot of them, but showed where we were standing, got great audio and had timestamps and GPS attached. My lawyer advised he would much rather have to answer for the legality of the recording than to have nothing else for proof
