Border crossing

canada customs has a web site. Get it all in print because three different customs agents can have three different answers.
I was given the run around at Sarnia while trying to import a Deere farm tractor. The agent wanted three days notice, the registration, safety check, proof of insurance. in addition to the bill of sale .
I gave up trying to explain the difference between a field tractor and a highway tractor. The official was right, that was all there was to it and the official was becoming upset.

If the piece of equipment was made in the USA originally, it will be MUCH easier
than for something made in Canada (not too bad) or Outside of North America
(worse).
You should involve a broker.

Its a John Deere round baler. Don't know where it was made. For sale on tractor house. Never had a broker so don't know anything about that. Thanks for any more info.

I have brought equitment across at Port Huron and never had a problem. Contact you nearest large airport and
talk to customs there as they are usually very helpful.I dealt with a broker once and the only thing he seemed
to be good at is making my billfold lighter. You may be able to get info by looking up NAFTA if it is still in
effect

If you use a customs broker PLEASE do not use Livingston International, they have the
worst reputation in the cross border industry (know from experince), use any body but.
