Hi -

I was thinking of getting a borescope for looking inside some of my old engines...

Are the purely optical ones where you look directly into an eyepiece better?? Or do the ones on Ebay with the little 2.5 inch screen
work just as well???

Are there any brands that really stand out? or that I should stay away from??

Thanks for any comments,
Howard

I'd like to have one too. I'd like to look down into engines as well as plumbing pipes , etc.. They should both work well , but each one will have it's pros and cons. It mostly will depend on wheather or not you have a camera end that is small enough to fit into the entrance hole and it's flexability . It also depends on how long you want to hold the eyepiece to your eye and how much hands free time you want . There would be a time and place for both , but I'd rather have my hands free for other things , especially if it was going to be a while .

Rocko,

Actually .... , yes ,they do have one at a more affordable price than those on Ebay. It is priced at $149.99 . They also have a Magnetic Tip for Fiber Optic Scopes for $4.27. No I'm not being smart . Just kidding back . LOL . But seriously , they do have them .The camera is the top picture and the tip is the bottom one .

:)

I have the snap-on version of this. It's about $400. HF came out with theirs shortly after I got mine, If I had known I would have waited and tried the HF model. I'm very impressed with the Snap-on that I have, it's gotten me out of several tight spots.

A&I has just started offering several different models of borescopes. I have no experience using one, but if you would like, I can direct you to the website where you can look at them.
