bosch model a injection pump

what do i need to do to get more fuel out of my pump than just turn the fuel screw? the pump is off a 2590 case, and i put it on a 1070.

Under the cap with two flats located on the radiator end of the pump you should find a screw with washers in the end of the rack. Remove it as it will limit rack travel, you could try it with the cap removed to see if it helps. Other than that a diesel shop probably advance the settings on each plunger to get more travel but that must be done on a test stand. I presume you have a turbo on it and want serious power. mEl

yea i put a turbo on it, and i pull it some but want to be able to use it on the farm some. i had forgot about the shims on the rack thank you

Also can you screw the load (smoke) screw in too far, i have heard you can and you can't. i have about 4 threads left showing on mine?

Do what Mel said with the shims. If you have that many threads left you can go alot more. We have ran them with the threads flush with the nut or even below flush. You can go to far and the motor will just start and run wide open. If you find this point just back the screw out a 1/8 or 1/4 turn and you should be ok then. That will be all you can get without spending a chunk of change at a pump shop. Hope this helps Thad

thanks for the help. i have taken the shims out except one it had 9 on it. i also screwed the screw in further, it seams to made a difference, but the test will be tomorrow night. but like i said thanks for the help.

Take the SCREW out of the front and put the cap back on. mEl
