BR 740A pickup header issue

Grandpa called me and he's having problems with his pickup header. It jammed pretty good and after he pulled everything out is when the problem started. He engaged the PTO and now the header shakes violently like something is unbalanced. It has the extra wide pickup header. He said he checked a counterweight and it looked ok. Any ideas? Thanks.

No expert here,but I have rolled a few with a BR740,assume it is about like the 740A
Standing at the hitch pin looking back on the right at the end of the pickup is a two jawed slip clutch. It may be slipping and need adjusting tighter.I
also understand that when they slip they wear pretty fast. Don't know about that from experience,yet.

At that same area take off a shield. Underneath loosen the chain idler so you can turn the pickup by hand. The big sprocket you see is easily
removed. There is a small round hole thru which you can observe the cam following bearing. This is a bearing on the end of the angle iron to
which the pickup fingers are attached. Even if you don't find a bad bearing,while you are buying repair parts,go ahead and get one. You will need it.

Also I have had the angle iron itself break in two.

Hope this gives you something to thing about.My pickup gets pretty rough treatment in the uneven ground of Mid Tenn. All this is fairly easy fixable.
Takes a while with a lot of getting up and down.

He may have one or more bent pickup teeth which are catching behind the strippers....
