bracket holding exaust pipe

I am going to change my exhaust on my 47 8n "early 8n" to go from sstraight up to go down under neath, there is a bracket of sorts attached by a bolt going through the trombone into the rearend housing,Im not sure if this bracket was to be used to secure the exhaust pipe or for something else. Does any one have a picure of the bracket used to secure the exhaust pipe at the exhaust end. Or better yet a picture of the bracke and secured exhaust pipe. thanx

Is this what you were looking for Bob.

thanks for the picture , thats not what the bracket i have looks like but it is connected to that bolt, looks like it will have to make something up.

I've seen chimney strap used there. Coat hangers too.
It doesn't take much to hold it.
A guy with a little creativity could make one if not looking
for something exactly original.
That would certainly beat the coat hanger idea.

yes I looked up the bracket and think it is a little pricey, i was surprised that the clamp holding the pipe to the manifold was a reasonable price compared to the tail pipe bracket, I think ill make somethig up although i would have liked to keep it original as far as parts. thanx for input.

The muffler rear bracket is part number 9N-5260, exact reproduction is made, licensed, and sold by Dennis Carpenter for $15.00. nnalert has them too for that price...see LINK

like in dels picture those brackets are simple, and unless you building a totally correct show tractor you can make it out of nearly anything, the important this is that it be there, the pipe connection on the engine is not designed to support the whole weight of the exhaust system by itself especially if yout tractor is going to be a 'using' tractor and get bounced around some

I suppose one could use a regular muffler hangar too, but if you don't have one hanging on your shop pegboard, now you're making a trip to the local auto parts store to buy one and chances are they are around $15 too. I'd use something in a pinch and I had to get the snow plowed or the grass cut or the field plowed, but then I'd get the right part eventually. NOTE: Whatever you use, be sure there is a little float between the pipe and clamp. It has to be able to flex some when it encounters tall grass and weeds. If you crank the clamp device down, it will be too stiff and possibly break.
