Bracket on DC

Any thoughts on this bracket? Was going to remove as scrap but I think it is factory built. Looks like a hydraulic cylinder was mounted under it. Thanks, Mike

Might be the lift for a corn picker.

I just went and looked at my 1946 DC 3 and it has one on each side. Never had hydraulic system on this tractor. My best guess is it had something to do with the mounted planters.

To make sure I'm talking about the correct bracket it's the top picture with the eyebolt still hanging in it?

This is the bracket for the mounted corn picker. Yours is close but appears different. I agree however it does look original Case. I wouldnt recommend scrapping as one day it may be a part you may need!

The L shaped bracket with the large eye bolt is for one of the two lift assist springs for the mechanical lift. I think Case called it a motor lift I have it on my 48 SC.

Mounting brackets for a model IM mounted picker including the ones in the front cultivator brackets. I have a model IM picker...hard to find the mounts. Later one posted looks like the mounts for a 425 or 426 Case picker, have one of those for a DC also. The bracket with eyebolt is for the lift assist spring on a Case lifting bale. Some were motor lift and some hydraulic.

Thanks for the info. Dont think I will come across a corn picker out here! Certainly available if someone is looking for the mounts. It appears to be in good shape, pivots freely by hand. PTO has a double chain drive sprocket on it, would that have been for powering the picker? Need to look it over better tomorrow, fresh paint on the head and looks like some new gaskets, might have a better parts tractor than I thought. Thanks, Mike

tell me that DC steers easy with mounted picker? front tires show weight. i was too little to run our john deere mouted picker but drove the A to a field and was DARN hard steering

Double pto sprocket is the corn picker drive sprocket...also hard to find. Where do you live, would be interested if close enough to E SD.

Actually steers pretty easy, had low tires at that show. Once the drives are on the tractor, you can mount or dis-mount the picker in about 5 minutes.

All depends upon your idea of close. I am in eastern Washington. I used to make the trip every couple years to see family in the Rapid City -Wall area but not since the grandparents have passed away. 10-11 hours from my house to Rapid City. I will not scrap them but I may finish removing from tractor if I try to make it a running tractor. Thanks, Mike

I also think that it might have the bigger axles which may have been described to me as picker axles on another DC that I worked on a few years ago.

Have in-laws in RC and usually get out there a couple times a year. Phone is 605.881 3042 if you make a trip. Use to go to Seattle once a week when I was trucking...usually in the winter as the fair weather drivers in our bunch didn't want to throw chains in the winter.
