Has anyone had success using a gear or brake drum puller with a JD two cylinder to remove the drum while brake is still on the tractor? If so, what type of puller was used?

The ones I've worked on you have to take off the nut on the inside shaft before it will come
apart. There are those that bolt on from the outside though. Ron MN

Hi,
There are some great resources out there from this forum as well as videos. The following thread helped me on my 70 brake repairs. I preferred to take the whole housing off the tractor. I used a pallet on saw horse. I cut a big hole to drop the housing in that came out of tractor and then a bolt in one of the mounting holes. Made it pretty easy. I had to take off the tractor as I was also working on the brake pedal bolt since it had a lot of slop. Here are some links/references.

in this issue there is a great article on brake repairs as well. https://greenmagazine.com/july-2020/

Good luck!

Depends on what model of tractor. Most of them remove the complete assy. and loosen the nut and them drop the assembly nut first down onto a wood block.
The ones with the nut on the outside many times you can get by loosening the nut and use a hardwood block and a sledge hammer onto the nut it may pop loose.
