brake drum removal

I'm trying to remove brake drum. Retaining screws are removed or missing and I tapped lightly with a small hammer...nothing.
Bigger hammer? Advice before breaking, that's my theory. Thank you. Brian

Have you backed off the brake shoe adjustment?

Originally there were 4 screws - Do you have all of them out?

Sometimes the drum and hub get attached to one another and need a little persuasion. A puller that opens wide enough to catch the back side of the drum will prevent damage to the drum that is inflicted by hammer blows.

If you have removed the screws and backed off the shoes and it still is stuck then get a BFH and pound away. I have beat brake drums to the point that my arm hurt and have yet to break anything.

shoot around the hub and the studs with penatrating oil and let soak a little while, wack around the edges with a heavy hammer then pry with a screwdriver from one side as you hit out with a hammer from the other...
