where can I get a good deal on some brake shoes for a TO-20? I found some for 74.99 for a 2 sets for both sides but the rod that expands the shoes inside the drum is wobblely, looks like it needs some kind of bushing or something, dont know what it is called, seem there are quite a few wobbly things on the 1950 fergie to-20. having all the fun in the world bringin this thing back to life. like I said in my last post almost through with thing, it will all be right sooner or later. thanks

63.56 set to your left in marketplace when I was rebuilding my to 20 these guys had the best price parts and service bar none

That adjuster is hooked so when you turn it its edge rubs against one of the springs and when you get it adjusted where you want it the spring keeps it from going out of adjustment. I have never heard of any one having to bush these parts. They are designed much like the older cars brakes. Not up to date on the new cars brakes.

180 degrees from the wobble point is an anchor point that locates the shoes. The wobble end is supposed to so bakes will center in drum. That is my spin anyway. I could be wrong.

Thanks guys for all your help. I was looking at agco diagram lastnight and the diagram does a bushing but didnt know the wobble was normal on the brake rod, brakes are about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through their lifetime, I have notice it is very hard to stop tractor once brakes are applied, I thought it should stop easier than that and I have adjusted brakes as much as possible, shoes did kinda look somewhat crystalized thats probally the problem so I think I will go ahead and replace the brake shoes.

If you need a lot of pressure on the pedal, make sure that the springs are fitted correctly. They should be fitted Blue spring to the Bottom shoe at the Cam end and the Black spring to Top shoe at the Cam end. The Red spring is fitted next to the adjuster and attached to both shoes and should hold all that tight. You should also check that the independent brakes work properly or the main pedal will not operate them together. LIFT each independent brake pedal one at a time, if the brake rod alongside the Transmission bends then the independent brake pedal inner joint on the end of the pedal is seized and needs freeing or the brakes will not work as designed. The "wobble" you mention, do you mean the shaft that runs across the front of the rear axle. If you do, then it is normal, if that doesn't move like that then the Brake Shoes will not centralise in the Drum. The brakes not stopping can also be due to the Drums being worn and the shoes are unable to grip the Drum all over the surface of the Shoe because the Diameter of the Shoes and the Drums are slightly different. You used to be able to get oversize brake shoes because of this to cure the problem. You can also get the Brake Lining material that is too hard and that polishes to a hard finish and is "glazed" you can try roughening the lining material to see if that works BUT AVOID BREATHING IN THE DUST FROM THE LININGS.if it doesn't help at all then you will need to replace the Shoes and linings..John

I should have said a little more about that Brake Rod and the Bush and the "wobble". If the "wobble" is very bad, then check the Bush for being worn, if it is it will require changing as it will not allow the Brake Shaft to operate the brakes properly. Check just how much play there is between the shaft and the Bush by moving it up and down inside the Bush. To replace the Bush you will need to pull out the Shaft and fit the new Bush....John

I think you are talking about two different things the way I am reading your last post. At first I thought you was talking about the brake shoe adjuster this time you said brake rod, I am taking that as two different items.
