Brakes

The brakes are not working on my ym220. Was wondering if this may be an expensive repair or very involved.

Here is the whole kit and caboodle. <LINK_TEXT text="http://www.hoyetra...K-4420&amp;Category_Code=220BRAKE</LINK_TEXT> Are your brakes adjusted properly? You should have 1" free travel. If so and they don't work you will need to take them apart and inspect. Then repair as needed.

There most likely just rusted and stuck also. Pull the cover there just Drums and Shoes clean them up. If the shoes are worn which will be on just one end. Just turn them around your be good for Yrs. If they already have been which I doubt order the parts <E>:wink:</E>

To remove the wheels you want the right jack and axle stands, a strong helper, and care. Replace the two springs on each side (if originals) and the gaskets but most just reverse the shoes.

I keep seeing posts that say to remove the wheels to repair the brakes. I have had the covers off of my 1610D brakes for inspection and don not see what would prevent easy replacement with the wheels on. Since my wheels are all loaded, this would seem to be a lot of extra work.

Am I missing something?

Since removing the rears, especially if ballasted, takes some care, I suggest you try one side with the wheel on. If you find you don't need more accessibility, fine. I've done it both ways.
