brass throttle lever

why did oliver use brass for the clutch and throttle levers on early 77's?

we have the same thing on our early 77. i'm not 100% but i believe they did it because steel was still hard to get and had brass parts left over from the war.

Brass was "Hard to get" during the war (WWII)
(Korean War)because used for shell casings.

I had one with brass pedals. What really sucked was when they used it for the lever on the band brakes. It was too soft and stripped the splines out.

our 1948 88 has a brass throttle and clutch pedal, were they just used on random tractors?

I'm guessing it was fairly random yes. The one that I had with brass pedals was a 51.
I've got a 50 and a 51 now and neither one has brass anything.
