Putting a 15 hp Briggs overhead valve back together,and just realized it has one steel pushrod and one aluminum pushrod.which valve does the steel pushrod operate? I asume the exhaust because of the heat.Is that correct????

Alum on intake,steel on exh,you are correct.

I have had so much trouble with the aluminum push rod on the intake wearing and breaking, When they break I use the steel exhaust push rod to replace the aluminum intake push rod.

It depends WHICH motor it is. On the VanGards, the aluminum goes on the exhaust. On the Intek, aluminum goes on the intake.

Basically, the aluminum one goes on whichever has the Compression Release on it.
