Briggs valve clearance setting

If it is overhead valve it is .006, if not post the model number and I can look it up.
Also, typically, those OHV Briggs have to be set at a specific crankshaft position, typically when the piston has moved downward 0.25" past TDC.

This is because of the compression release lobe on the camshaft.

If set at TDC they exhaust valve setting will be WAY loose.

As the other poster said, gotta have the model number to be SURE of what needs to be done.

./It's and over head valve engine, and thanks for the replies! I'll need to do some more checking it looks like and will get an engine model number.
