No charge. What is procedure for finding problem?

Check battery voltage with engine off, start engine and re-check voltage, should produce higher voltage when running [ charging ] if not ;
Check for voltage drop at ground, with engine off, measure battery voltage at battery, leave positive probe in place, use other lead to measure voltage at Negative terminal, than recheck voltage at ground, and on several places on tractor frame. If voltage is less at chassis, you have voltage drop. Chean ground connections and try again. Even a small voltage drop will foil charging system. If * No * drop occurs, disconnect stator lead, and measure voltage directly, at stator. [ engine running ] If no stator voltage exists, problem is bad stator. Bare wire before diode, set VOM to AC scale and try again. If you get AC, but no DC = bad diode. Could be a simple, stupid thing like a bad fuse, broken wire. Always start with the cheapest, easiest fixes first.
