Bring on the fall tillage

I finally hooked up the auxillary fender fuel tanks on our 1855 today. I gave it a quick test with just a few gallons in each tank and pulled the plow for maybe a good 1/2 hour or so, and so far so good.

I've got an extra fuel filter on hand just in case- I learned to have one on hand after the last time I realized that was what my problem was on a Saturday right before the dealer closed. Musta had a dirty tank, or maybe water in the tank when we bought it because I changed the filter as soon as we got it, and less than 100 hours later it was clogged.

Now I'm adding 2 tanks that may or may not be pretty dirty inside. From what I could see, they looked pretty clean but both pipe nipples in the bottoms of the tanks were packed tight with dirt about 1/2-3/4" up. I replaced those and hope not much got inside the tanks. I'll find out because our main tank on the farm has had a filter on it ever since those problems, and so far we haven't had any more problems.

We're gonna haul manure on the fields we plan on covering, and then dad just might hook onto the 3 bottom plow with the 285 while I'm pulling the 4 bottom. We'll see just how fast we can get the plowing done...

Fall tillage is relaxing. I was chiselvating a few feilds with a 1950 Oliver. As long as the ear muffs were on it was nice. Hearing loss other wise. Leaving to go chop now.

Didn't you guys get any rain? We got pounded all weekend? A good 6". It will set back harvest a while.SE MN

It has been so dry here the neighbor had to put a foam marker from his corn planter over on his discbine to see where he was mowing alfalfa.....

Rained off and on saturday but we chopped and tilled from 9am to 5pm, helped a relative move her business on Sunday, yes, in the rain. Just got home from chopping 5 loads and unloading 4. Now I get to go pick my eggs for the next few hours, then hopefully do 4-6 more loads. Better than watching Days of our lives!!
