Broken Magneto Flange

I am working on a Farmall A and the mounting flange on the magneto is broken. The top hole has been welded many years ago and is in OK shape. The bottom hole has the lower part missing. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement mounting flange? To do this I need to remove the drive member. I know what type of puller I need but I will have to make my own. Does anyone know what size the threads are for the puller. I have my own lathe so manufacturing one should not be a problem.

Check with your local Case/IH dealer to see if they have the mounting flange. Some dealers have used parts. If you pull that mag off the engine
make sure you make a note of where the rotor is pointing. Make a sketch and then don't turn the engine while the mag is off. When reinstalling the mag just turn the rotor to the position on your sketch and your mag should be in time. This applies to a distributor too. Call 1-800-732-0017 to see if they have a mounting flange. You will need to ask for farm tractor parts. Hal

Thanks for the number I'll give them a call. As far as setting the mag, the engine had just been completely rebuilt. I've installed distributors before and not had any problems. It couldn't be that much different from an automotive engine.

What mag is on your cub, if it is a H or J series IH mag, I have a bunch of the cast mounting flange, as for the inpulse puller, the threads are not a common thread, I tried to make a puller before I got a puller, I thought it looked like a 9/16 fine thread bolt, but it did not work, they were made by OTC, and are hard to find. I got lucky finding one.

I have a Farmall A with an H4. As far as the tread size is concerned I can make any size I want with my lathe.
