I always enjoy your farming pictures. So, this is my first attempt at posting pictures. This is how I feed my balage in my 73 stall barn, with my Rissler bale unroller. I had this almost 2 years and really like it. I bale most of my hay as balage. I have an Anderson inline wrapper.

I may need help posting pics.

Is there enough air movement that the exhaust from the Honda engine does not bother you or the cows?? gobble

The exhaust doesn't bother at all. It has a little bigger motor than a powered silage cart.

That looks like it would be more user friendly than the turntable type. How many head do you tie on a side there?

I have 36 stalls on one side and 37 on the other. Yes, I stand on it when driving. It did take me a week or two to learn to drive it well.

Looks real handy! We used a motorized TMR Rissler feed cart in our barn, yeah took a week or so to get good at maneuvering it through the alleys. I fed big square bales set on a small hand pulled 4 wheel steer wagon, one 800 lb bale would last 2 days. Kinda miss those days....

To get the wrap off I just start spinning the bale and grab one end of the wrap and the wrap unrolls, about 2 rotations . After the wrap is off, then the hay starts to unroll and I drive it around. I feed one bale in the morning and one at night. It takes about ten minutes to unroll a bale. The cows get corn silage, too.

That looks really cool and also a bit of fun too. So you learned to "feel" your way down the isle hu? If you ever think about it you can install a 20lb. Propane tank on it for around $65.oo on up to a couple hundred for really high end kits. Just look on Ebay. Hondas burn pretty clean so should be ok. Also try hi- test gas and turn the main jet down just a little if it is adjustable. Burn less fuel and less exhaust. Hope these tips help.

Jeffcat- thanks for the tips. The first few days I scraped a little orange paint off...lol. I have a few Honda motors and they seem to burn rich, which causes the air filter to get restricted.

That is why try hi test gas and turn the main jet down about 1/2 turn. Everything in my yard, lawn and garden tractors to gen set, to chain saws all run hi test gas. Makes a big difference with the generators as they are set up to run at 3600 rpm. They will hunt if you try regular. Smooth as silk on hi test. If you go to propane you can just ignore the carb. The adjustment is on the little adapter plate. Also you can turn the valve on the tank off or the better ones have a little vacuum sensor shutoff valve. Keeps everything nice and safe. Need to touch up that paint.;). Glad to help.

BJ : Are those Frudenthal Comfort stalls ?; or what brand? / do you make a 4 x 4 bale? How wide are your cross walks ? We're looking at doing some Barn remodeling too...

Had one years ago, yes a joystick is very tricky to maneuver. Worked OK, to get around tight corners I took off the platform to walk behind which helps with the guidance also, cut a couple inches off a stanchion pipe and put a block in the corner of the feed trough to make the corner.
Sold it when I went to TMR.

Bruce, it should handle any height bale as long as it is 4 ft long. I make my balage 4?4 because that is all the higher my barn ceiling will allow...lol.

Green line, I have an alley at the end of the barn 8 ft wide, that's where I load the unroller. My newest, and widest barn Manger is around 6ft. Plenty wide to turn the corner. Yes, the stalls came from freudenthal. They are about a 45 minute drive from me. I had those put in in 2002-2003. Had the barn all redone over 2 years by a Mennonite crew. The stalls originally had loops that stuck out in the Manger as did the drinking cups. When I got the bale unroller 2 years ago, I had a guy come in with a big chop saw and cut the loops off and I turned the cups to be on the stall side of curb. I gained a foot in the manger. They do sell the stalls without loops, too. I would recommend them and also mounting the cups on the cow side of curb, how my barn is now. No more of cows slobering water in the manger on the feed and getting buildup.
