Brush cutter nut

Hey guys. Does anyone know offhand what size socket I need to get the nut off my blade? Biggest I have is 1 1/8 and it's too small. It's an old Howse.

i've got an old howse too. my biggest socket is 1-1/4" and that's still not even close. i [i:446591076e]think[/i:446591076e] my tape is telling me it's 1-5/8", but i won't swear to that.

I bought a socket for mine, takes a one inch drive, its out on my tree farm, will look tomorrow if you dont find it sooner.

I would recommend measuring yours with calipers. 1-5/8" and 1-11/16" (or metric equivalents) are the most common I've done. The nuts can vary some depending on manufacturer. YMMV

Sounds like it's time to go to Harbor Freight and get their 3/4 drive socket set for $70. I don't use mine very
often, but it sure beats individual sockets getting lost and will always be handy. The quality actually pretty good
and I've used the sockets for adapters on my shop press many times.
