Bucket list?

(quoted from post at 12:00:24 05/17/23) i'd put conduit in the ground and then push some pex tubing through it. if it ever leaks, just pull it out and start over. good luck
Does that "conduit" penetrate the wall of the basement?

If yes, where does a leak of the water line in the conduit end up going?

i'd guess it would go into the basement unless the meter vault was lower. one thing about it, you would know if you had a leak haha. seriously, that's a
good point you made. not all basements have sump pumps from what i hear.

Agreed Smash. I used 1 inch black plastic in a roll, CTS size, NOT iron pipe size, ( as that requires barbed fittings.) CTS fittings have a stainless steel sleeve insert into the plastic pipe. Then brass over that with screw clamp flanges. Never had a leak.

I think it's a no brainer, you have a Terramite, correct? Down south where you live you probably don't have to go deeper than 6 feet, dig it in. You're not much older than me, under 80?

I'm going to follow your advice and do the job myself.
Menards only stocks 3/4 inch CTS and only stocks fitting for Cts. 250 psi is the max they sell.
The frost line in Terre Haute is 24 inch.
The city water main is 36 inches.
I'm digging 36 inches with my terramite on Monday giving 811 dig time to mark everything.

Only need 45 ft of pipe. I could only buy
it in 100 ft. 250 psi. Thanks for the heads up. I bought the inserts.

I'm betting it will do just fine.
Won't take any time.

I'm tempted not to back fill and have America water pressure test it before covering it up.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
Have a good day.

Terramites do come in handy.
I keep one at each property instead of hauling them 20 miles each way. Gas is expensive.

Early you said:
(quoted from post at 13:20:12 05/17/23) I learned Indiana American water requires I use 3/4 inch IPS, 250 psi rated, compression fittings and leave 3 to 5 ft of pipe out of the ground.

There is no reason I can't do the job myself.
So now your going to use CTS stuff instead?

just like on YT I received a lot of conflicting information from many different sources in Terre Haute.
One contractor said I should use CPS another contractor said to use IPS.
Another contractor said I have to use a licensed plumber.

The only piece of Information that wasn't conflicting, 250 psi rating.
Menards only carries CPS water line pipe rated at 250 psi. Menards says no one special orders IPS.
Menards only stocks fittings for CPS.

100 ft of 3/4 cps is only $40.

I plan to dig on Monday and see if American water has a problem with cps.

What would you do?? No phone line to the crew that installs the meter.

I would once again contact American Water and have them confirm, in writing/email that what I want to use will be accepted by whomever does the inspection and whomever does the actual connection.

Just like new power service connections.
Do the work, the county inspects it and green tags it.
Without that green tag from the county inspection, they won't connect you to power.

Sure would be pizzed if the water company came out and told me NOPE, no water for you!

Do you have to prove that your well water system is not connected to where the city water will be flowing?
