I know it is not ideal, I know it is squirrely. But if I flip a drop down hitch over, Do ya'll think I could haul a 30 foot conveyor about 40 miles to get it home?

Again, I GET IT. A truck with a gooseneck hitch would be better, Don't have one available to me.

I did that once with a tri-axel dump trailer. It was fine until I had it loaded with limestone at the quarry, 4 tons IIRC.
Broke traction on a hill and didn't have the front hubs locked in so slid back down the hill and into the ditch and a cattle fence. Lost half the gravel and bent the trailer frame. Insurance paid for the tow truck and fence repair.
The conveyor probably weighs a lot less than my empty trailer did so I think you'd be fine at less than highway speeds. SMV sign time.

Still have a bent 4" hitch pipe with a pintle ring in the barn if anybody needs one.

Man that sucks. I would never try it loaded, But I think I can get away with it going slow. There are only 2 major hills between us that I will have to watch out for.

I don’t get it. You want to put a gooseneck trailer on a bumper hitch, then load a 30’ conveyor on the trailer? Does the conveyor not have wheels? Could you put a ladder rack on the pickup and haul it on the ladder rack? Could you borrow a neighbors pickup that actually has a gooseneck ball? Bumper hitch ratings are considerably lower than gooseneck hitch ratings.

I’m not saying it can’t be done, I’m just trying to figure out the plan…. is it this pic I took from the ‘net? If so, I wouldn’t do it, but you may have different needs than me.

Seen that setup, definitely not doing it. The conveyor does have axles and wheels but the bearings are shot. Basically I am a poor boy and can't afford to fix the bearings until I get it home and put it to work loading trucks.

I think I will just have him put it on my trailer, and see how it will ride. It is an 18 foot trailer, I think I can load it and have it stick over the front a little and then just out the back.

Some standard trailer wheel bearing sets are very cheap, have you looked into that?

Example

A standard bumper ball hitch carries approx. 10-15% of trailer weight; a gooseneck/5th wheel hitch carries approx. 25% of trailer weight..
