Burnishing File

I've had this for years.....' came with a bunch of other stuff from a garage sale.
Never knew what it was until I looked it up today.
P.K. Neuses No. CB-5 Contact Burnisher.
Complete with 5 extra blades which are stored in the barrel.
Doesn't look like it was ever used. Obviously a well made tool.
I found it is made for cleaning high quality electrical contacts without leaving a residue.

My question; would this be a good tool for cleaning ignition points in, say a tractor engine? Seems like it might be.

I have a set just like that. I used in burnishing relay contacts in electronic equipment. They do work in ignition points
that are mildly burnt. I always found a small ignition file worked better with burnt points.

many years ago I worked on main frame computers with magnetic tape drives used for input devices. They each had a rack in back of the unit with at least 20 relays that controlled the vacuum motors, read head movement, windows up and down, etc... When things got 'sticky' and wouldn't work right we cleaned the relay contacts with a burnishing strip and it usually corrected the problem... Here's a set of three...we had 8 drive on each computer. I still have two or three and used to use them on Points also...
