bush hog leaking fluid

I have an old bush hog. I replace lower seal and redi sleeved it. Been sitting 2 years and has started to leak again. I only use it about 10 hours a year. Could I use heavy grease like corn oil it and check each time I stop. Thanks

I've been using grease in my brush hog for over a decade now and not had any problem by doing so

I would not use grease as in grease you use to grease a drive shaft or front end parts.

But I would have no problem using Corn Head grease available at any John Deere dealership.
Corn Head grease comes in a regular grease tube and is semi solid when cold.
But as it heats up from the brush cutter running it will turn into a thick oil so it will flow deep into the brush cutter bearings.

I'm with the cornhead grease plan. or add about equal parts of 80/90 to your gun grease to thin it.

Yup corn head grease, I buy a case of 10 tubes off of eBay and look for free shipping, lasts me for a long time.I take a razor knife and slice it open long ways to put it in. My bush hog was built in 1968 and would be a royal pain to replace seals.Already spent quite a lot of money to rebuild the slip clutch years ago.

I have a Woods Mower I use for a few of my mowing jobs where there is a chance of rocks, or mowing heavy rush. I went to the trouble of changing the seal, only to have it start leaking again. I fill the gear box with grease, with no problems. It works for me. Stan
