hello everyone, So today i tryed to hook my bush hog up to my tactor today but the linkage is frozen. I might have to buy a new shaft to connect the two together. If i have a 4Ft bush hog would anyone know what size shaft i would need to look for ?? thanks

Did you twist the shaft last time it was used or is just weather stuck? Just hook something to it and pull it all the way out with the tractor and clean.

ours was siezed up a few years ago from no-use for a number of years. Had to chain one end to the tractor, the other to my truck, and apply heat to get the dried up grease to let loose. Then wire brushed the dried grease off, and used lots of pb-blaster to get it all cleaned out of the female side.

Stays free now.. but I take it apart each fall and leave it separated for the winter.. And I don't grease it. Just spray some pb-blaster or wd-40 in there to keep it free of rust.

Apart from being twisted it could be bent from lifting too high. If the joints on the shaft rattle when you lift the Hog you are lifting too high and the joints will break, when you lift it too high it will often catch the front of the Cutting Deck and then it will bend. Try soaking it first rather resorting to brute force, that is not the way to do things, you will damage something. If you allow it to soak in a bath of diesel or such for a few days would be a better idea and possible cheaper too....John(UK)
