HI IM looking at an old ford an 8or 9n the tractor has what looks like 9n rims it has the big bolts spread far apart it looks like it has a 9n dash with 8n sheet metal i cant read the serial # but stamped on the side of the motor it says 8N the back tires are vary old and cracked the body is fair with little rust and it runs good no smoke good oil presher pto weeps oil a little and also a little weep on axels thay want 1000.00 for it.can any one help me with this should i buy it and whats is it an 8n Or 9n is it all worth it thanks Jaybird P.S it also has a 4speed trans

A four speed is an 8N. Price depends upon where you are, but in Indiana $1000 for a running 8N is a very good price. I would grab it.

4 speed & 8N serial number argue for (mostly) an 8N.
Many of our tractors are mix & match as parts are interchangeable. $1K for a running 8N around here is a good price - may likely require an investment in rear tires (not cheap) soon however. I would grab it.
