Do you think a John Deere 710 with 6788 hours worth paying 9K(CAD) for?
Putting $9000 into a 60+ year old tractor is not a good idea . You are probably in Canada .Do you think a John Deere 710 with 6788 hours worth paying 9K(CAD) for?
Evidently you don't read the threads concerning some of new tractors engines & trans that have stop operating due to some failure of electrical sensors or relays. That failure isn't too bad when tractors are under warranty. But after warranty expires & those electrical controls or emission parts fail then one's bank acct will get a debit sometimes very large debitPutting $9000 into a 60+ year old tractor is not a good idea . Better to put $9000 onto a new tractor and make payments . Will Still have something useful in 10 years time .
You could buy a decent 30 series Mannhiem for that price....a much better tractor.Do you think a John Deere 710 with 6788 hours worth paying 9K(CAD) for?
People ask crazy prices for everything. Nothing new about that.710 is a decent tractor but you should be able to buy a real good one for 5-6000. However some people are asking crazy prices for them I guess because they are JD? Actually more Lanz than John Deere! We have a couple of 710's ( one that was pretty much new when Dad bought it off the nieghbor well over 50 years ago now.) They have more going for them then some people give them credit for.
1/ excellent fuel economy
2/wide gear selection with very slow first gear
3/ engines that give very little trouble
4/ 2 stage clutch for independent PTO
5/ 540 and 1000
6/ differential lock
7/very handy tractor to operate and get on and off of.
8/foot throttle as well as hand
The main fault they have is hydraulic pump is on the low side for GPM, so rather slow on the 3 point, and loader.
The other problem is I am not sure how available clutch pressure plate is ? I know several years ago it was super expensive and long delivery at least thru JD.
