buying bush hog question

I have a 49 8n with fairly low compression and was wondering if a 60in mower was too much for it to handle? Its only 200 bucks but is 60 miles away and didn't want to waste time and $ if it wasnt going to work. This is my first post on here but have been reading it for years and its helped me get my 8n running and then moving. Thanks to all the pro's in the 8n world.

DB:

A 5' rotary cutter is just right for your 8N.

If you find yourself power limited in heavy grass, use a lower gear and/or cut less than a full swath.

Be sure to unstall an ORC if you do not have one on your tractor.

If it is anything at all, it should be worth $200... You could always resell if it didn't work out for you. I'd say buy it and give it a try. It just might be a good excuse to rebuild your engine. Good luck, and welcome to the board.

Thanks for the comments guys, im on my way to pick it up now and hope for the best. Yes im gonna get the ORC as soon as i find out the spline size of the mower. The old 8n does need rebuilt but cant seem to find a time of the year that i dont use it. I thought winter would be good, but without it i would be snowed in for a week at a time.

Well i picked it up this afternoon and seems to be ugly but cuts clean and was in my price range. One question about the over run clutch. What kind of pin goes thru it that attaches it to the pto shaft. They call it a spring pin. Is that a squeeze pin or what does it look like?
