Buying tools off Amazon

My son told me if he wants to buy a tool from Amazon he will look at the seller and go to the Seller's home page. Many times he can get the same tool the seller lists on Amazon for less.

I haven't done that yet, have you?

I don't like buying from Amazon. You never know who you are dealing with and if there is a problem Amazon will wash their hands of it.

I've found the opposite when there's problems. Amazon will make it right. Usually sending a new one and saying keep the old one.

hen using amazon, it's important to know if you're buying from them or one of their many, many third party vendors. It matters a bunch.

A lot of times something is cheaper from the retailer, but you have to pay shipping when shipping would be free from Amazon. In fact, Amazon usually warns you about that.

And I've never had a problem with Amazon about anything. They've always been great to deal with.

Everything you buy via Amazon shows you who is selling it as well as who is shipping it.
In the right hand column, plain as day.

i buy tools off amazon. handy if you are looking some something out of the ordinary . i got feather and wedges for splitting stone, 8 point impact socket sets, drain plug sockets, and other goodies. no problems.

I don't deal with evil Amazon and very little to none on ebay. Just about as cheap to go local and don't have to wait 3 days in most cases.

They'll sell it cheaper direct because they can cut out Amazon's commission. I think I may have done that once or twice.

A while back I read where folks selling direct on eBay were getting scammed by Amazon sellers who would list their products at marked-up prices. When an Amazon customer ordered the product from the scammer, they'd just submit an order to the eBay seller and have the product shipped directly to the original buyer. When the customer received the product, they would realize it came from the eBay seller and that they had been overcharged for it. Naturally the buyer expected the eBay seller to refund the markup, or they'd return the product. What the scammers were doing didn't really violate Amazon policy; I don't know if it was ever resolved. But I generally prefer to buy on eBay when I can; it's usually cheaper.

YES I have and saved money. I shop Flea Bay and Amazon PLUS the companys own website and have got it cheaper direct a few times. SHOP AROUND One advantage of buying direct is its easier to get customer service and warranty

Once you have determined the exact make and model of the tool you want GOOGLE it.

Typically, there well be quite a few results with better prices.

I do that with every on-line tool quest anymore.

My neighbor was advising me on some Dewalt battery tools to buy as a first time buyer. He suggested amazon as the go to place. I said Im old, I like to buy in a real store and have it in my hand as I pay for it, get to open it right away. Ill catch the sale price at the local farm and fleet store.

Well they had the free batteries and flash lights Christmas sale going on, Black Friday they added a 20% gift card rebate on any purchases that morning.

My friend was blown away at what I got for $808 net cost. 6 tools (big 1/2 inch impact, small 1/2 inch impact, drill, impact driver, angle grinder, chain saw), 4 big batteries 2 small ones, 2 lights and 2 chargers.

And I enjoyed myself shopping in person.

If you were going to spend that kind of $$$ too bad you didn't check out/buy Milwaukee tools instead of the overhyped yellow ones!

I buy a lot from Amazon as I'm about 20 miles from town. I go to town and they say we can order that for you. Another trip to town to pick up. Well I can order it also, usually cheaper and brought to my door. If you look below the add to cart box it tells you Shipped by and Sold by. I try to stay away from 3rd party sellers unless I check them out. I also google most items to find the best price, safest sellers, and shipping cost.

I won't use Amazon unless I simply can't find the item anywhere else. So far, that means I've used Amazon exactly ONCE since it came on the scene. I'm not giving my $ to those clowns.

Wow! Why would you call them "clowns"? Jeff Bezos is a self made multi-billionaire starting out in a rented garage with just him and his wife. He is absolutely the definition of an over-achiever. At one time recognized as possibly the richest man in the world.
