C case

I bought a C case tractor starts and runs good but the transmission is very noisy is this common or is there something I can do to reduce the noise. I put new 90w oil in the rear end.

The noise isn't coming from the drive chains is it? They could be too loose.

If there is anymore than 1/2 inch of play in those chains I would consider tightening them up a bit before a link snaps that doesn't happen very often but if it does it can pile the chain through the bottom of the rear end I have never had this happen But I do have some parts tractors here that were awfully neglected in their former lives with some pretty ugly patches underneath If You do tighten the chains make sure to take the time to check the play in all the link pins Like the old saying goes (A chain is only as strong as its weakest link).
