C123 Water Pump Issue

This is the water pump off a 130 with the C123 engine.
The pulley has been removed, as it seemed to be leaking from behind the pulley.
Anyone know what the purpose of this hole is?
My pump may have been leaking from here, but I am not too sure.
If the seal kit is bad order, would this be an area where it could leak. I cannot really see any evidence of a leak from the shaft area.

It's the weep hole-all water pumps have them.Coolant will seep/leak out this hole IF the seal fails.It's purpose is to keep the leaking coolant out of the bearings,to prevent bearing failure.Mark

Thank you for the prompt and compact response.
The pump sat dry on the tractor for a number of years inside the shop. Must have dried the seal.
That said....I have a service kit coming in the mail this week. Looks like a bit of a job getting the rest of it apart. Press and all that. Have you done any?

I would buy a new pump at around $60 aftermarket. Napa has them.

I've been into water pumps before,but mostly have just replaced them.About the main thing is keeping the seal clean and installing it properly.You will need a press.Unless a reman was not available,I would just replace it;but,since you ordered the kit,it's worth a try.Good luck.Mark

I did a little test to make sure the weep hole was leaking.
Sure enough, leaking through the weep hole.
I had the unit all sealed up and attached a length of abs to the inlet hose and filled it with water.

The parts for the kit I received were no good. ie. the brass/ceramic seal was damaged in that the rubber part of the seal had deteriorated.
I am now looking for a good replacement aftermarket pump.
People keep mentioning NAPA.
Any part numbers available?

Do you have any info from NAPA on the replacement pump?
The original IH number is #355760R93

First call napa and tell them what you need and what it's for. Then when they tell you they don't have anything like that you give them the numbers above and then you'll make them look foolish. I pulled it up right on their website when I selected a 1968 Farmall 140 as my "vehicle". (The year model doesn't matter as they are all the same part on the 140)

The SPEEDY SLEEVE ? is actually the Sling Flinger. Parts # 362038R1.
That part does not come with the rebuild kit.
