Call me Crazy.....

My 300RN has the adjustable wide front end. I'm not a big fan of wide fronts and am looking to switch it to narrow front end. If I make the switch I want to see if there is anyone on this forum that would want to buy the wide front from me. It would work better if anyone has a front pedestal to offer as part of the deal. I have to warn you though. You might have to help me get the front axel off of the tractor when you come to pick it up. I'm located in the SW corner of Wisconsin near the town of Belmont.

Call me crazy also! I really like a lot of things about narrow fronts. The ability to overlap in the storage mode. The over lap allowed when hauling multiples on a trailer. Versatility in the field. In my little hay operation I regret that I don't like running over freshly mown hay. But have learned to minimize it as best I can. gobble

One of the top reasons for me is when you get a flat front tire. When that happens with a wide front you have to walk back to the buildings. If you get a flat with narrow front you can at least drive it. But you should check tire pressure on both tires. I had one front tire on a DC that had a slow leak and I had to pump it back up every week to week and a half. One day I had to pull my mixer mill full of feed to a neighbors place where I was feeding out some pigs. I took off down the road and just as I got up to top speed the good tire blew out. The tractor immediately turned into the ditch. Good thing the road and adjoining ground was at the same level. I ended up past the ditch and into the hayfield before I came to a stop. Needless to say, I got both tires fixed before I delivered the feed to my pigs.

Just remember narrow fronts are extremely dangerous! Many people have been killed by rollovers because of narrow fronts!

Its your tractor so you can do whatever you want with it. I like the looks of the narrow front over the wide front. If I were you I would keep the wide front for a while just to make sure you made the right choice.Narrow front will be a little rougher riding.

I think there were other things that contributed to a lot rollovers other than just having a narrow front end. Ignoring the safety device that's between your ears gets a lot of people into trouble.

I pretty much made up my mind on this. I switched one of my 400's back to a narrow front and never looked back. I have wide front on my 530 and it will stay that way due to the loader. I also have a Ford 8N to pull the hay rake with. The 300 is going to be my brush mowing tractor.

I wanted to change the front on my wife's 300 to narrow but she said no. Dang it woman then I could haul 3 tractors at once. She ant haven it. I
like looks narrow fronts. Does anyone know what was the last year you could get a Case with narrow front.
