Its absolutely beautiful right now but the weatherman says we are going to get 12"-18" inches of the white stuff tomorrow - YUCK!!! I hate plowing snow!!!

Mother Nature left me a couple dead ash earlier this month and I decided to use this as an excuse to clean them up and stage the firewood by the porch. At least we will be cozy ;-)

TOH

Hobo,I hope every thing goes ok with your heart cauterization. Also that you get back a goin soon. Will say a prayer for ya.Good luck with it!

If you had cut that potted meat & Dukes w/ PBR, you'd get better mileage out of those arteries!

Best wishes on the heart repair job.

Thanks Guys I hope to be home tomorrow afternoon. I spec I will be put on light duty for the rest of the week... I did not get it apart I became right popular with inspections and such... : (

Thank the lord Ford did not use this exhaust manifold set up on a N It always takes hours to get the manifolds off without breaking the bolts...

mvphoto66670.jpg

BTW I did buy new under-ware for the show... : )

I didn't know removing those bolts without breaking them was even possible. ;)

I'm sure the show will be a big hit!

I envy you getting that much snow Hokie. I've been chained up and ready to go for a month. We're getting missed again.

Good luck tomorrow Hobo.

7 or up heads there. There was a couple of 1966 C6XX odd duck castings with the smaller intake ports and that combustion chamber. Light thumb print there. That chamber makes a nice 67cc pocket with a shave. What size is the engine?

I overhauled a 352 FE engine 45 years ago, and that was enough for me. I'm
reassembling a 7.5L (460 EFI) engine in my service/crane truck now that blew a
head gasket. I find the EGR and thermactor system is worse than the FE exhaust
manifolds! I got all the manifold bolts/studs out of the heads without damaging
any threads in the heads, or breaking any studs! I did leave the exhaust
manifolds on the heads when I removed them. That made things easier.

I always liked how the StreetMaster did. Is that what is on the table? I had three of them at one time. For what I set up the StreetMaster without the update did well on my 3.5" stroke engines and the one with the corners cut out did well on the 3.78" and 3.98" stroke. Traded my Port-O-Sonic for my first StreetMaster. It woke up the 390 on the bottom but didn't loose up top. FE is a good engine with well rounded usage.

n an FE it is best to have the top exhaust bolts flush or a thread below the ear. When the bolt is too long the rust and build up get pulled through the ear and at times will crack or break the ears off. When the bolts break you can weld a nut onto what is left. The heat swells the bolt and crushes the rust thus freeing it up. Sometimes you have to blow them out with a torch. There is a popular candle wax trick I have not tried yet.

I am sure your wife might not appreciate your departure and leaving her with all your projects.
Godspeed on a rapid recovery.

Back at home by 12 no blockage : )
Good news!
No blockage You mean like a blocked hydraulic brake hose that will drive a person nuts finding it.lol

The heads came off a 69 390 they are going back on a 76 360. Its just a install a good engine deal noting special. I ran the 360 for a bit 5/6K miles tho low on power it did not leak are use oil... I robbed the heads off of it so had these re-worked for the 360. A poor boys special I guess...

I think the truck in the pix is a 73 it has a 3 speed trans 3 on the tree I have a NP435 4 speed out of a 76 F250 I am gonna look into installing it in that truck while I have it apart... That's why I pulled the trans to remove the engine... The clutch linkage is worn out it needs attention it adds a hour are two to the job and much easer on a old man this way...

mvphoto66708.jpg

i really like the ford version of the np435. nice low 1st gear, and a ridiculously low reverse (8.**:1) have had one in my '75 cj for almost 15 years now. best modification, hands down, that i've ever done on the cj; better than a locker, better than an hei, better than a weber carb, better than swampers, etc...

2' so far in central NH. a bit more than the 8" to 15" forecast. still snowing heavily, too. 8n loader will be busy when it stops.

Dan-
When I bought my own/first 8N in 1990, I had a 350' dirt driveway to plow snow on with my new house. I had driven Fords before on grannies farm with my grandpas'/uncle's 9N and 8N. I recall him letting me help plow snow a few times and I loved it. I was 13. This was in rural Michigan and back then in the 60's seemed like we had a lot more snow and more frequent than we do now. So I had to get an 8N with my new house -I also had 10 acres to mow cow-grass with in summer. In winter I loved plowing snow -at first. I plowed the whole neighborhood too as only one or two others had tractors with back and/or front snow blades. Working 12 hours a day with an hour drive to work one way and back didn't allow much time to plow snow when getting home late in evening and much later if snow and ice hindered driving conditions. A one hour drive could turn into 2-4 if winter storms hit. You can't go out plowing snow at 9-10 O-Clock at night after driving 2 hours home from a 10-12 hour workday and expect to be back doing it all over again at 04.00 the next day, although I did do that a few times. So, the thrill wears off fast when reality sets in. When we are younger, snow is cool -can't wait for a 'snow day'! As we get older and have to start driving in the cold, snow, and ice to our jobs everyday, we can only wish we lived in Texas or New Mexico then. After a few years of doing this I got a FORD F-250 4 x 4 and a snow blade. Plowing snow was a lot better as you had a nice warm cab, 4-Wheel Drive, a hot Thermos of coffee, and the oldies station or a Jonny Cash 8-Track going. That soon got old too. I am retired now so don't have to drive in it as much but hire someone else to shovel my snow. I still love the snow but hate the cold and ice that comes with it. Whatever you do, be smart, be safe, plan ahead.

OUCH!

stay safe.

congrats, hobo :)

17 Dec, 3:20 PM (1520 hrs L) 40 degrees F. most of an inch on the mostly clear ground. Oh Yeah - 65 miles South of the Camadian Border.

OK, I'm sure it's gonn'a hit soon - but the electrical problem I 'inherited' I think just burned out my coil. Guess I'll be out in the driveway and under the tarp with a light in a few minutes. 1/2 hr daylight left.

Take your time on that 35" - safe is infinitely better than an OOPS! (Ocurance Of Puckering Significance).

All the best. - Joe -

I started radiation treatments on some skin cancer Friday 19 more to go maybe it wont grow back...

I got the engine together today this thing was full of rattle snakes : ( Transplant trans cleaned up and ready for new seals I think it will plug and play other than cut the floorboard for the shifter..

Time to celebrate with a couple Dukes and Wonder bread sandwiches.

Been snowing here for about 3 hours - good thing is its pretty light - at least so far...

TOH

I bet those sandwiches are NOT on your doctor prescribed diet.
But some hard grain beverage might help blood flow.
