Can this Radiator Be Fixed?

Hi guys,

I've blown the radiator on my Ford 5000 - see the pictures.

So, I have two questions:

1) Can it be fixed?

2) I have some basic soldering equipment. Do I need anything else? For example, I have regular Homedepot solder and flux for water pipes. Would that do or do I need some special compounds?

Thanks,
Jaroslav

Where are you located? I have a radiator
from a 5000 parts tractor. The fins are
smashed flat, but the tank is good. I'm
inn/w WI.

I'm in Canada. An international border with guards, customs officers and brokerage fees separate us :)

Unfortunately.

I replaced the radiator in my son's '65
4000 with one from A&I. Was made by one of
Ford's OEM suppliers.

Yes, it can be fixed and it might be cost effective to do so as the core looks good.

I would not attempt to repair it myself as I have a trusted radiator man nearby.

Once fixed, use the proper pressure cap.

Yes, it is replaceable, IF you can find a decent radiator shop. They are few and far between nowadays. If someone wants to start a lucrative business, a rad shop is a
good place.

Years ago at a Rad shop in my local town I watched a repair where they used a liquid acid and a brush and a rose bud type gas flame to do their soldering. I'm pretty sure you can straighten that up then use heavy solder, flame, and acid to resolder it. It needs to be very clean too.
