I'm thinking of adding a canopy to my 5045E. I see fiberglass canopies advertised including available from Deere for half the cost of an all steel canopy from Iron Bull. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with either.

When I bought my 4020 it had an OEM roll bar and canopy. I drove it out across the field on a raw day and about froze, and it felt like I was in a wind tunnel and sounded like I was in a drum. I drove back, took it off, and sold it. Later, I bought just the roll bar for my 2520. I made a wood framed canopy with a heavy cloth cover. I can install/remove it in minutes without tools, and it's quiet under there. I would never have a steel canopy.

I have a metal canopy on the 3010. It has had many go-rounds with tree limbs and only bent up a little. Have a fiberglass canopy on the 2640 and nearly destroyed it on a limb. If you get a metal one, you will want the insulation kit so noise doesn't reverberate.

A canopy is definitely cold. We have one on an CIH 5140. It's not loud at all but it takes till June to get warm enough to be comfortable on it.

Doesnt anyone offer a canopy made from tough plastic? Sure seems it would offer some great noise and limb resistance benefits.

I always thought if I had the roll gard and canopy I could wrap myself in Saran Wrap around the rops and keep from freezing to death

SV you add a canvas heat houser then you have a poor mans cab with heat. Did that lots of winters with a 2 3020's. Still use a heat houser on the one 3020 we feed cows every day with. Tom

Deere offered a windshield and canvas sides to be used with the Roll Gard canopy... sort of a half cab, a small step above the heat houser. A farm in the neighborhood had one on a 4020. If memory serves, the windshield stayed on year around some years.

Tom I keep debating whether I should get a heat houser or a cab ? I spend a lot more time freezing to death than I ever do roasting . Even my old 7700 combine isnt to bad in the dead of summer with the fan blowing .
