Can't remove cam follower pin.

1953 Jubilee NAA

I am finishing up cleaning and adjusting my 3 point lift. I decided to replace the pin that wears against the cam as the arms move up and down. It is about 1/3 worn. I tried the usual trick with the socket over the pin and supporting the socket so the arm doesn't bend but it is really in there. I tried heat with no luck.

I removed the four bolts that hold the adjustment handle, hoping to figure out how to get this out to work on it easier.

I can provide pictures if needed. Any help is appreciated. Do you how to get the adjustment handle off?

you will need to get the arm out so that you can take it to your table or vice, and lay it over the socket and then put a punch on it to drive it out.

doint it installed will be a clam bake..

Yeah, that's what I decided to do but I can't get the arm out. My parts book shows a woodruff key along the shaft.

Is this screwed in. I have the four bolts off that hold the adjustment handle on but everything is very neglected and I don't want to break anything.

I've changed many of them without removing the linkage assembly by backing up the arm with a 1/4" drive 3/8" deep socket over the protruding end of the pin backed up with a 3 or 4 lb. hammer while driving the pin into the socket from the other side with a 1/4" punch and 2 1/2 lb. hammer. I've never needed to disassemble the linkage.

You will need a helper to hold the back up hammer.

if you are asking about the big 3pt lift handle for the quadrant.. that sandwiches a friction disc.. then yeah.. there's a key.. take 2 screwdrivers and priy ti off after hosing down with penetrant oil. also, using a couple tack hammers and hitting 180' apart on the barrel part of the cast piece that covers the shaft it will swag the metal.. lastly.. use heat sparingly.

Apparently Dean, and Zane can hold them with a crowbar and drive them out.

Makes my spchenter draw up.

I've never used a crow bar, Dunk.

I always use the socket and back up hammer as described below.

If you will take the ram cylinder off the lift cover housing you can then see how to remove the cotterpin and nut that holds everything onto the eccentric control shaft that is connnected to the touch control handle. Do not get the bright idea to take all the slack out of the control rod when re assembling it by shimming and tighteneing the nut with the cotter pin in it. That control rod needs to hang loosley.

I made a pusher / installer sort of like Hobo's and it works better than having someone hold a big bar aginst the back side while I bang on it and my left hand with a hammer.

The link shows one somebody else made and I copied mine from it and one Hobo posted. Mine has a lot stronger back up that the one shown. It is made from a part from a wiring box. I don't think it would work on a pin that is really stuck like you say yours is.
