Can't Separate NAA Engine from Transmission

I'm tearing down an NAA and I can't get the engine to come away from the transmission. The only think I can think of is the clutch disk is solidly rusted to the transmission input shaft. I am definitely open to suggestions on this one.

Can you get it teh move any at all or not?? If you cannot get it to move any at all you may have missed a bolt or 2. If how ever you can get it to move by pushing the clutch pedal down then yes the clutch could be the problem or or the input shaft is stuck in the pilot bearing

It comes out maybe a 1/4 of an inch. I did do the double check to make sure all the bolts were out. The clutch pedal is dead, it just flops around. I'm thinking of pulling the steering box tomorrow to see if I can get to the problem.

Pull the starter and from there you should be able to slowly remove the pressure plate bolts. You will need to turn the engine over a few times so as to not warp the pressure plate and if that helps the clutch disk is rusted to the input shaft but you will be able to open it up and then be able ot lube it up to remove it

Starter is already out, so I can give that a try next.

It's a pain to do but if it is the clutch that will do it. Easier if you pull the spark plugs so the engine turns over easy

Did you drain hyd oil and remove hyd lines ?

Yes, removed the hydraulic pump too.

john, have you ever watched the Red Green show? i bet Edgar Montrose can separate them. (clue: it's all about parts per million - u gotta lower them!)

Well thank you very much again old.
The flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate were a rusted mass of metal.
I wound up having to go in through the steering box hole with a 1/2" drive 6-point socket and breaker bar to get those 6 bolts out.
After that with a few good shakes the engine popped free and is now happily strapped down on a dolly.
