Carb for 800 series

It should work, below is an MS reference for Ford carbs of that era.

This is from my Marvel-Schebler Catalog: The 800 Model came first, '55-'57, and used the TSX-593 and TSX-706 models. The 601/801 tractor came later, 57 - and used the TSX-771, TSX-662, TSX-769, and TSX-813 CARBS. I don't know what the difference were. I'd have to have one of every model in front of me to scrutinize. The carbs are all designed for a specific engine size, with the flange mounting hole pattern a certain size. An 800 and an 801 use the same 172 engine. What do have on it now? Don't see why a 662 wouldn't work on an 800 Tractor.

The 1958 (approximately) 801/901 tractors had a 662. The 1959 thru 1960.5 tractors used a 769. The 662 and 769 had the same spacing (2-11/16") between the mounting studs, used a 3/8" stem to attach the sediment bowl to the carb and had a 1/4" fuel line. The matching manifold was part number 310076.
At SN 126525 a new intake manifold (B9NN9425A) was introduced along with the 813 carb which had stud spacing of 2-3/4", a 7/16" stem and 5/16" fuel line.
The correct manifold/carb combination depends upon whether you tractor is SN 126525 and later or SN 126524 and prior. Of course lots of parts may have been changed on your tractor so I would look and see which fuel line and stem you have. That will determine whether or not the 662 will be a direct replacement.

Gary Berkey said that Ns & Naa and earliest hundred series tractors used carbs with 2 inch stud spacing.

Maybe 2 3/8 also existed, as I have seen it mentioned, but no reference to what carb or tractor/engine,

HiYa JMOR-
Great info from awhtx, I remember him well. Is he still around? I copied and saved this in my M/S Carb Folder. I've had one of these carbs on tractors at one time but
never paid attention to the differences as they were being serviced for other issues then. It's hard to find one of the later TSX carbs, and if you do often are high
priced. N's are always plentiful. Thanks for the info Jesse.

Additional information to the chart I showed and what others have posted. Yes the TSX 662 was mostly used on early 801 series however the inlet size (3/8) and stud spacing (2-11/16 outside not c-c) is the same as the TSX 706 original to my late 1957 Ford 840. The bottom line is the carb will work for an 800 but check your inlet and mounting dimensions as manifold and/or fuel setup may have been changed over the years. As pointed out later 801 series tractors had a larger inlet (7/16) and different carb mounting spacing. Some replacement manifolds had slotted carb mountings to accept either.
