Gentlemen I am in a bad way. I have the carb off my dads H and I need to rebuild it tomorrow so he can hear it run. Long story. Once I pick up the kit, where can I find detailed procedures to rebuild it and most importantly the settings.Please refer from telling me to buy a manual, we have one somewhere, but only he knows where. I have soaked it and cleaned it. It is an IH carb if that matters. Any advice appreciated.

First off it is not tough. You have it apart, and now there are really three things to be careful about.
Setting the needle and seat so the seat doesn.t leak where it threads in, and getting the float tab set to push the needle cleanly into the seat at the correct float level. (I do not know the float level)
Running a fine wire through the jets and the passages in the carb body using a bit of spray carb cleaner to assure open passages and jet openings.
Third is fine tuning it after startup.
I would look in the archives for main jet setting for Farmall H
And a second time if needed for the idle screw setting.
Be sure the choke and throttle plates are closed when the screws are tightened to assure concentric fit to the bore.
Jim.

The kit should come with instructions, at least the more complete ones I used had instructions.

most kits tell you all the parts in the carburetor, and has the breakdown and shows you where all the replacement parts go, you defentally want to replace the needle and seat, new bowl gasket and gasket in between the carb and manifold, soak the carburetor really good, disasemble the carb,take float,needle and seat,discharge jet, coke and throttle buter flys, take your venturie out,the petcock on the bottom of carb and your full load jet,and anything else ,((might be forgetting something)) scrap any loose rust or crap out of the bowl if possible and any grease off the outside of the carb.. you can get a gallon can of carb cleaner at napa, and soak the carb in the cleaner for a few days and all of your parts (submerge in cleaner) (except your float dont soak that AT ALL) after a few days soaking being completly striped down take carb cleaner in a can, or throttle body cleaner or break cleaner whatever and spray in all passage ways out and then use compressed air to blow all the passage ways out again then reasemble with new needle and seat, new gaskets, and new float if need be, not sometimes carb kits dont come with a new gasket for the bottom full load screw so you will need to find some thick leather to make the new gasket and make sure you clean all the old gasket out from where where the full load jet screws into.
hope this helps some, might have left a few steps out just trying to sum it up fo ya

Make sure the float isn"t sticking or touching the insides of the float chamber. Some previous advice was to use a Dremel tool and smooth the insides of the float chamber so it doesn"t rub or touch. Pretty important. Set the float so the top of it rests 1 27/32" above the flat surface of the float chamber.
Initial settings as follows to get it started;
Main fuel adjusting screw, big screw facing down at an angle, towards the rear, at the bottom of the carb; 2 1/2 to 3 turns open. This main screw turns clock-wise for leaner mixture.
Idle fuel-mixture screw, smaller screw facing forwards, on upper left-hand side of carb; 1 to 1 1/2 turns open. This idle screw turns counter-clockwise for leaner.
Idle speed screw, faces outboard, at the top of the carb; set for 450 rpm, and make sure the governor correctly engages the slot.
Get the engine warmed up, and idling.
Turn OUT the idle fuel-mixture screw until rough running, then turn in until it idles smooth. (Mine is set at 1 turn open.)
Rev it up, wide open, warmed up, then turn the main fuel adjusting screw IN until rough, then out til smooth, then 1/4 turn to 1/2 turn further out. As I say, mine sits at 1 turn open. (Other advice has been to set it at 2 1/2 turns open for pulling implements.)
Should rev up smoothly and evenly.
Too Lean = stumble, sputter, damaged melted plugs.
Correct = tan plugs.
Too Rich = back smoke, black sooty plugs.
