Hi, I have replaced a Marvel Schbler carb that wasn't working with a Zenith 0-14996 reversible carb. But before changing the choke lever side I need some instruction.
Has anyone done this before or know where I can find the instruction manual? There is a plug I don't know how to get out and don't want to damage so it can be used in the off side. I'm very new to all this, so any information is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

First I will let you know that I am not real familiar with a Zenith 0-14996 carb..

The plug you are referring to is called a "Welch Plug". They are a tad bit larger than the hole they are driven or pressed into in order to form an airtight seal.

If you look into the throat of the carb. You should see one or two screws that holds the butterfly to the choke shaft. Remove the screw/s and the butterfly will come out.

Next remove the screws that hold the choke lever to the carb body. The shaft should come out easily.

Look into the hole that the choke shaft fit into and you should see the bottom of the Welch plug on the opposite side of the carb body.

Use a flat straight shanked punch that barely fits into the hole and can reach the plug to tap it out. DO NOT use a sharp punch for it will damage the plug.

Apply a small amount of Loctite sealant to the plug to prevent air leaks and install it on the opposite side of the carb body. Install the plug flush with the carb body and no farther.

Install the choke lever assembly to the body and check for free movement. Check the the flat face of the shaft is facing out toward you. If not remove the nut and rotate the shaft 180° and reinstall the lever.. Reinstall the choke plate.. A small dab of grease on the screwdriver can help hold the screws as you start them.. Do not over tighten the screws.

If the above information is not correct. I hope someone will correct me..

u got it covered, even use a straight punch the size of the choke shaft to punch out the plug, if its damaged a bit just flatten it out again when its out. use a socket the size required to install it.
