Carb problems

I have a 47 h the carb floods all the time. I rebuilt it twice and it still floods... Bad. I dont know what is wrong. Any help?

Rubber tipped float needle??? If yes you need to put a set in it or it will cause that problem. Open the carb back up pull the float an drop the needle in the seat and tap on it a few times. Pull it back out and you should see a ring in the rubber tip that is what is called a set. Also make sure the seat is good and tight and the float moves freely. You can also tell if the float moves freely by turning the carb upside down then right side up and you should hear it moving when you do that

two rebuilds later

i would check to see if you are getting good CLEAN gas from tank first.
how does the fuel bowl look (sediment bowl)
dirty with 1/2 of junk in bottom and still think its clean?

yes i agree with the float valve seat.
but if you are getting dirty gas all it takes is a (little) speck of dirt and that seat not going to do its job

do this and learn something in life about carbs
i just did my carb on the super a works great now.this just one carb, when you got a rack of 4 you better have your stuff together
here is picture of carb sitting level on work bench with fuel in it for 2 hrs and no signs of float sticking
good luck and i dont mean to be smart but when you do racks of 4 carb aint no fun

One respondent here took a Dremel tool and cleaned up the inside of the float bowl, to keep it from sticking. I thought that was a good idea, I'm gonna doit next time mine sticks.

(quoted from post at 04:10:11 12/03/12) Learned that from an old carb guy who died many many years ago.

That little trick has been disputed and argued over and over, and most of us recommend NOT doing it, but go ahead, see if it helps, 'cause if it doesn't, you can always go out and buy another needle and seat.

OR, you can simply clean that NEW needle and seat with carb cleaner BEFORE you install it, and it will function just as intended the very first time.

The float may be slightly bent and catching on the carb bowl. There isn't much room for the float.

Why is that anyway? If the float is just slightly off-kilter, it hangs up in the bowl. It doesn't need to be that tight. Make the bowl bigger. Make the float smaller. You're lucky if you have a fraction of a fraction to work with there.

It is the M carburetor that has problems with the float hanging up. NOT the H. The M carb uses a double float, and if that float is only a little bit tweaked, it will rub the sides.

The H carb uses a single float and there is PLENTY of room for it. ONLY way it would hang up is if it were SEVERLY bent or twisted.
